This victory ends a  17-year title drought  for the organization, with its only previous title dating back to 1979 when the team was known as the  Seattle SuperSonics . The 2024–2025 Thunder also set the NBA’s best regular-season record, capping off a historic year. It was a long-awaited return to the band’s roots—and fans were more than ready. Two Decades in the Making Despite kicking off back in April 2023 in Amsterdam and scheduled through mid-2026, Metallica had yet to play near their home base.
